New Year’s Resolution

Happy New Year to all of you! As with a lot of people, I make up resolutions each New Year only to leave them forgotten by the wayside as we get into January. This year I hope to keep one of my resolutions, and that is to be more active on this blog. Sadly, months pass between my postings. I am going to try to be more active in posting this year, as well as adding a little more spark by including more recipes, helpful hints, maybe some tutorials, more giveaways….

I will begin here by sharing a recipe I came across that I am looking forward to trying…it looks so warm and comforting! Perfect for a cold winters day or maybe as part of a Superbowl spread perhaps….I will let you know how it turns out and would love to hear from you if you’ve tried it..

I hope that everyone has a wonderful weekend! Until next time, sending primitive hugs and blessings to you!

Doesn’t this look scrumptious? I’m going to have to try this one…Similar to pumpkin pie but with less work–no rolling out pie crust!

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Happy Saturday everyone! Hope that everyone’s weekend is starting off great!

Today, I just want to say THANK YOU!!!!!! You know, no matter how hard we work at our business, it can only be successful because of our customers, fans, followers, family, and friends. Without their support, it is nothing and means nothing. I am sending you all hugs. I want to thank each and every one of you for your love, support, friendship, and belief in me. I treasure each and every one of you…

As a small token of my appreciation I would like to offer a shop discount for 25% off everything–just use coupon code TAKE25. And in honor of Cinco de Mayo, I am sharing with you an awesome looking recipe I found. So pour yourself a margarita, enjoy your day, and remember…it’s 5 o’clock somewhere:)

Making Mud Pies

Happy Wednesday! Doesn’t this recipe look good? Thinking I am going to try making it soon…Nothing like a little bit of chocolate yumminess to help get you through the rest of the week!

Well, today my little nephew Cameron is coming to visit. The weather is supposed to be quite warm with intermittent rain showers. Since my little helper loves to be outdoors, I’m thinking we might go tackle so more projects in the backyard today…Still have lots of hostas to divide:

And I still need to thin out the Campanula Cherry Bells that I have growing around the bird bath:

I firmly believe that it is never to early to instill the love of gardening in children. By learning to grow their own vegetables, they will grow up with more respect for the environment and a sense of self-sufficiency. And, it is a lot of fun to boot! I hope to spend some time this summer teaching my nieces and nephews more about gardening, and on rainy days like today, maybe even making some mud pies…

Have a wonderful day!

Some Favorite Pins

As we near the end of April, my thoughts are increasingly turning to gardening. Here in Michigan I generally plant my vegetable garden and annuals in mid-May. Usually the danger of frost has passed by then. As an avid gardener, I make use of lots of shrubs, bulbs, and perrennials in my flower beds. As they have filled in over the years the need for adding annuals to them has lessened. However, I still enjoy doing a few containers of annuals every year to place on my porches to add a pretty touch.

I am always challenged every year as to how I should do my containers. I always like new ideas and trying things a litlle different. Some of my favorite color combinations are purples with pinks. I found and pinned the above photo. I think it is just gorgeous and love the different heights, colors, and textures. This might just be the inspiration I need for my containers this year…But then again, I found the lovely photo below. I love the white blooms with all of the green. It would really add interest to a shadier spot!

As I am becoming more familiar with Pinterest, I am growing to love it more and more. As I browse the web and find all kinds of lovely ideas and products, I can create beautiful boards to come back to. While I do a lot of pinning on boards to help promote shops and products on Etsy, I am also trying to make more boards that reflect who I am and my personal style.

And now that spring is in bloom, it is also time to start thinking about barbeques. I also pinned this recipe and can’t wait to try it…Happy Friday everyone!
